To be honest, I'm almost surprised that no one else has done this seeing as there is clearly a lot of love for this topic.

Anything music related goes; gigs (good and bad), recomendations, who you love, who you hate, music that makes you remember things, dodgy musical past (that covers me then!).  Whatever, it all goes here baby  

My favourite band would have to be the Arcade Fire. And btw: yay concert seaon is almost here! (Metallica in August, and maybe Muse. Between them who knows....)

I've never listened to much Arcade Fire to be honest, but I know they are supposed to kick ass.  I love Muse though I only really got into them after Sing For Absolution came out so I'm a newbie really.

I think my favourite band is The Divine Comedy, most of the songs are a bit flipant and funny and I like that.

I don't know that much of the Divine Comedy, but what I've heard is good. I saw The Arcage Fire live, they really are amazing, there are like 15 band members, and they all play each others instruments! They kept runing all over and jumping from the piano to the drums, it's great. I love them XD

LOL couldn't agree more.  Clearly "molodic pop songs" means, "it's all the same bollocks".

Personally speaking the main problem with a lot of the mainstream music is all so meh and bland.  I like things that are a bit more interesting.

Although I do generally hate all sort of R&B rappy crap I LOVE Gnarles Barkley (obessed with The Odd Couple at the moment) and Panics new-ish one, Pretty Odd.

I like metal, rock, Punk, techno... New and old doesnt matter to me I like the Clash and The Who a lot
Im not saying any othrer genre of music is terrible every now and then i may like a R&B or rap song but i am saying its very very rare

I like pop music, it's where I started and I've had some dodgy periods (see 911, Code Red, 5ive, Steps...) but weirdly never was into Take That and I actually went to sit down with the boys when they played a Take That song at the disco they had when we left primary school waaay back in 1994 and I didn't like Boyzone either incase anyone thinks I was into them :P  Love 70s disco music as well but mentally I've lumped it in with pop cause it kinda is.

Most of the music I love is Indie or Alternative stuff but even at that some of the newer bands to emerge I'm not so hot on and if Jo Whiley (she's a BBC Radio1 DJ/ass kisser) makes a fuss over them then I instantly hate them.  Tis the kiss of death to me.  I seem to like a lot of Emo bands at the moment but to be honest, I thought a lot of them were kinda Indie so what do I know?  :P

Mark got me into rock music... I used to get all confused with Led Zepplin and call them Zed Lepplin (which I think is just as good a name!).  Really love a band called Alter Bridge at the moment.

My parents didn't really help me out much musically.  Daddy Bubbles listened to brass band music (must have been an old person thing) but Mummy Bubbles did have slightly better taste though I'm pretty sure I hated most of it except Abba, The Smurf album and a Rolf Harris album (we're talking vinyl here) which I loved.  Then when I was a bit older I just left it on Clyde 1fm (local Scottish radio station) and listened intently to anything and everything.

Anyone going to any festivals this summer?  I cannot decribe how much I wish I was going to a few of the rock festivals on this summer but I can't believe Lostprohpets are headlining Download - whats all that about????

lostprophets at download is pretty funny, unless they do all covers or something I can see a few bottles of the yellow stuff being thrown their way, poor pretty Welshies.

I can't comment on all that has been said here but I'll say a few things

a) I wish I was going to a fest too but it kind of came down to the decision of whether to go on holiday or go to a fest, I chose wisely by going for the former I think. I might still go to a smaller music festival up in Southwold.

b) My fave artists at the minute would be Bloc Party, Maximo Park, Cajun dance party and get cape. wear cape. fly, if anyone has any recommendations on bands who sound a little like any of these I'd be happy to give them a listen : )

c) scouting for girls suck ; )

I love Bloc Party, I meant to see them at christmas, but I had tests. Tests seem to consciously pick dates when I want to be at a concert, I mean last Friday Radiohead were playing and I couldn't go! It was almost physically painful
