i think there's an audiobooks section in iTunes as well? if you put your cd there first and then drag it to the iPod, it should be indexed as an audiobook and be put in the correct place edit: in iTunes, select the files, and in the info window (Ctrl+I) and on the "Options" tab is a drop-down menu "Media kind". can select audiobook from there edit2: also, you can add an "Audiobooks" section to the general menu via Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Show -> Audiobooks --Last edited by Manivald on 2008-10-03 15:16:43 --

How you gettin on with your classic Mani? That's the beast right? I've been looking at that, my library can go back to being high quality again if I get that. I was squeezin everything in when I had my 6gig one. How many songs do you have at what bit rate and how much memory does this take up?

It's the beast alright, 120 gigs. As I think I said before, iPod has a lot of quirks and I'm not a fan of the software, but all things considered, I think it's the best player currently being sold. For my requirements at least. And I did do quite a bit of research and comparison before I decided to go for an iPod again. All things considered, I love it. Have around 8000 songs on it at the moment. The lowest bit rate I consider alright is 192 kbps, I don't think I have anything below that. And I've tried to get/rip/store as much albums as I can at 320 kbps. The current selection takes up around 45 gb. The number is likely to rise since I haven't had time to do thorough reviews and selections in my music library yet :P Also, I must say - the screen on the classic in very crisp, altogether delightful and totally alright for enjoying video as well. I was sceptical about the movie-playing capabilities and that wasn't really important for me either (just the storage capacity). But I've tried it out and it's quite nice to have a movie or two on your player for.. let's say a long bus or train ride.

How does the movie thing work? You buy them from itunes? Is it easy? How much etc? Your post has swayed me back towards the beast, I want storage and plenty of it too. I only have 2000 songs atm but that figure will rise dramatically with more storage and I can finally raise the quality of my library; I've been getting by at 112kbps for a while now. I originally burned them at 56! But then I'm not some audio freak who can notice everything so I guess it doesn't matter but it would be nice to see if I can tell the difference and you're right movies would be cool. The iTouch looks amazing but way too much money for my liking and I just need my mp3 player to, well, play mp3's.

Yeah, you can buy movies and tv-shows and all kinds of stuff from iTunes and it's easy, just a few clicks. Feature films go for around 10$. But I've never done that myself. I have *ahem* other means for *ahem* obtaining movies that may or may not be legal, I can't say. What I'm getting at is that it's also easy to just copy the video files that you already have on your hard drive for some reason or other. (Although the pods don't support some formats, such as .AVI - you can convert those before transferring to the player). The iPod touch + looks alright and + Wi-Fi access would certainly be nice, but I'd never want or consider buying one myself. It's - overpriced, - storage capacity is mediocre, - I'm not a fan of touchscreens - and the big display really drains that battery!

LOL you do paint a bleak picture of me Matty, like I walk about going, "oo pretty shiny things" but after having has a look into the matter I am rather loving the blue 16GB Nano (yes, you heard right me and itunes in the same sentence) as well as the 32GB Creative Zen one I saw. I have a friend who knows a friend who has liberated some items so if I can get it brand new for cheap well... you wouldn't say no would you?
