This is my new favourite toy. It's a very effective protection monk build but only uses one protection prayers spell, the rest is mostly energy management.
Skills
Boon Signet (Divine Favour; Elite)
Protective Bond (Protection Prayers)
Inspired Hex (Inspiration Magic)
Revealed Hex (Inspiration Magic)
Ether Signet (Inspiration Magic)
Mantra of Inscrïptions (Inspiration Magic)
Blessed Signet (Divine Favour)
Rebirth (Protection Prayers)
Attributes
Protection Prayers: 13 total, this might be 12 + 1, 11 + 1 + 1, 11 + 2 etc (you get the idea)
Divine Favour: 11 total
Inspiration Magic: the rest ;p
I have
Protection Prayers: 10 + 1 + 2
Divine Favour: 10 + 1
Inspiration Magic: 11
Use
Quote :
| Enchantment Spell. While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally cannot lose more than 5% max Health due to damage from a single attack or Spell. When Protective Bond prevents damage, you lose 6...4...3 Energy or the Spell ends. |
At 13 - 16 Protection Prayers, you lose 3 energy each time Protective Bond prevents damage - so higher than 13 Protection is a waste of attributes.
Before you begin, find out from your party who has a lot of self enchantments - whoever has the most is your Boon Signet energy pool.
Sequence:
1. Activate Mantra of Inscrïptions.
2. Put Protective Bond on up to six of your party members (this is the maximum that is easily maintainable). You shouldn't need Protective Bond on yourself as you will be well out of the firing line. While getting the bonds up you may need to use Boon Signet or Blessed Signet once or twice.
3. Ensure you have full energy and get going. While on the move you will only need to use Boon Signet or Blessed Signet once in a while as your energy degen is only 2 pips.
4. When your party is in combat, spam Blessed Signet and Boon Signet (on whoever has the most self enchants). Remove any hexes with Inspired or Revealed Hex (these will also help with energy management). Keep Mantra of Inscrïptions up. If your energy gets dangerously low, use Ether Signet. Keep an eye out for enchantment removal - if protective bond is stripped from a party member, replace it ASAP.
Limitations
This build is not well suited to a party with a tank. It is ideal for a party full of casters. If you wish to play bonder and your party has a tank (or any mellee for that matter) Life Bond is a much better skill. A tank absorbs too much damage in a short space of time so protective bond is quickly lost and your party is quickly taking a dirt nap.
Protective Bond will not prevent death by degen. If there are a lot of hexes or conditions in the area you are going to, make sure that your support monk can deal with conditions and has a hex removal in addition to yours. Because Protective Bond is very effective against spike damage, your healer will not need a lot of healing, but they will need some.
