But that's dishonest. And you DID post the answer, Littlebird simply explained it.

technically saying "I will die" isnt an answer because he won't cross the road...
and his bones would just break because it's the truth even if he wouldn't die now.. :P

So technically it isnt an answer really.

Darn, I was wondering if the answer was "The horse says nothing, it is the rider who speaks" but alas I was wrong

The horse tells the guard: " I would like to be a zombie", then he dies in some horrible way and the guard, trying to honor the horses last request takes him to a necromancer which raises him from the dead, now the horse can tell any lie he wants to to get over the road.
